Rep. Alan Mollohan (D-WV) is stepping down from his post as Ranking Member on the House ethics committee, Roll Call’s John Bresnahan reports this afternoon, quoting anonymous sources.

Wanna know the difference between the Dems and the GOP? This is an excellent example. Here you have a scandal involving a top ranking Dem and the response isn’t to rally around him and insist that up is down, black is white and the scandal is the product of Rupert Murdock or Richard Mellon Scaife.
One final bit of disclosure. To her discredit House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tried to do the wrong thing. But in the end, the Dems have done the right thing. Note to GOP: See, you really can clean house. It’s easy.
