Now that Bush is actually facing the press in non-scripted environment, I thought it might point out some questions I’d like him to avoid answering.
- You have talk a lot about the need for cutting big government and reducing spending. If this is indeed you intention, why haven’t you submitted a balanced budget?
- In your 2003 State of the Union address you stated that there was no dissent in the intelligence opinions that Saddam maintained WMD capability. Since that time, reports from the DOE and other sources have shown that there were dissenting sources of intelligence. To just what extent were the dissenting opinions considered and why were they not made public in the lead up to war?
- As President and commander in Chief, you have the authority to order our troops into conflict as authorized by congress. You have repeatedly stated that decisions on US troop levels in Iraq will decided by the commanders on the ground. How do you reconcile this discrepancy in your authority?
- Executive Order 13397 established a Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives at the Department of Homeland Security. How exactly do expect such an entity to help in Homelend Security? How do you answer charges that such entities exist to funnel tax payer dollars to specific right-leaning Churches and religious institutions.
