Very serious people are telling us that it’s irresponsible for the press and political establishment to ignore a clear cognitive and functional decline in the sitting president. Especially when we can all clearly see it happening in real time, in public appearances and in press conferences. It’s all there, for everyone to see. And frankly, it is insulting to the American people to ignore it.
Unless it’s Trump.
In that case we all have to pretend he hasn’t been speaking in word salad, sleeping in public and acting erratically for years. We have to pretend actual family members haven’t told us about his cognitive state. At no point are we allowed to bring up that this pattern has been observable for almost a decade at this point.
Instead, everyone is required to re-litigate Biden as if he held such a tight grip over his own party that it was impossible to dislodge him.
